Over the weekend, due to an image leak, news broke that there would be a new Peter Parker centric Amazing Spider-Man #1 debuting as part of the All-New Marvel Now publishing initiative in April 2014.
Shortly after that, the story was confirmed in major media, and writer Dan Slott teased that he would not talk about this news until after this week’s Superior Spider-Man #25. That led to some reasonable extrapolation that Superior Spider-Man #25 would start us on the road to the status quo change in April 2014.
Before we get to the meat of this week’s spoilers, if you were a lapsed fan like me of Spider-Man, while the preview to Superior Spider-Man #25 wasn’t all that illuminating, its recap page was.
So, what does a read of Superior Spider-Man #25 reveal? Glad you asked.
Spoilers for Superior Spider-Man #25 follow.
Venom has taken over the body that Doctor Octopus occupies: Peter Parker, the “Superior” Spider-Man. With a little help from a “friend”, he is freed.
Well, what you hoped would happen in this issue did in fact happen. Peter Parker is back, as surmised when this started in December 2012. And Doctor Octopus is none the wiser.
And it looks like the Avengers may have a hand in getting Peter Parker back in the saddle of his own body if the cliffhanger is to be believed.
Thanks for reading. All feedback welcome.
