Last September I saw a lot of interesting genre features at Austin’s Fantastic Fest. Yet, there was only one that I watched twice. Blue Ruin. As I remarked with my review from the festival, the film is a vengeance-fueled tale with no frills [a]nd… gives off a “country noir” vibe.
It’s a film that I included as an honorable mention of films I saw in 2013, also pointing out that with its official release in 2014 to not be surprised if it makes it to my top 10 (if it’s a poor year for new releases).
Star Macon Blair was a virtual unknown to me, but his performance as a man seeking vengeance on those who murdered his parents is arresting in nature and too good to overlook. Check out the trailer and see if is enough to intrigue viewership.
The Radius TWC release opens in theaters on April 25, 2014.
