Justice League #28 Spoilers: Forever Evil Goes Sideways As A Surprising New Member Of Project: Metal Men Debuts! (DC Comics New 52 In Review)

News, Spoilers

Justice League #28 introduces to the readers to Dr. Magnus’ Metal Men. This builds on the cliffhanger to Justice League #27 and the preview of this very issue.

The issue is predominantly a flashback told by Dr. Magnus to Cyborg.

SPOILERS for Cyborg and Project: Metal Men #1 Justice League #28 follow.

In that past, the Metal Men have a specific purpose, to be deployed into dangerous spots around the world, but Dr. Magnus doesn’t consider that he may have been duped. The various members of Project: Metal Men come on-line after previous testing on a failed prototype.

However, Dr. Magnus gets more than he bargained for as the Metal Men actually feel emotions and aren’t soulless machines. In addition, it looks like Dr. Magnus benefactors want to weaponize the Metal Men.

The Metal Men flee the facility and seek refugee at Dr. Magnus abode. They are pursued by Chemo who is actually the a Metal Men as he was created when the Project Metal Men prototype was tossed in a toxic soup by an unknown assailant. The Metal Men swing into action with no care for themselves; just Dr. Magnus and the innocent civilians. They find an ingenious way to stop Chemo, but do they survive?

We now flash forward to modern-day as now Cyborg tries to convince Dr. Magnus to reactivate the Metal Men, whose essence actually survived their Chemo battle, but their bodies did not.

I feel that DC Comics really wants me to like the Metal Men. They are interesting, but weren’t my cup of tea before the New 52 and still aren’t. That said, Cyborg being thrown into the mix is interesting and I’m not sure if DC published a Cyborg and Project Metal Men ongoing series after Forever Evil that I wouldn’t pick it up.
