10 Thoughts On… Bitten – Episode 9

10 Thoughts, Reviews, Top Story

1. Wow. While last week’s episode disappointed me, Sunday’s episode of Bitten rivals Episode 5 as the best of the season. Last week, I told you that this show only works when it uses as much fast-paced action as possible, and that the methodological story-telling is only effective when it is fused with fight sequences. This week’s episode was perfect. It felt like watching a two-hour film as the storyline pushed forward and each character experienced a great range of growth.

2. I am especially impressed by Steve Lund’s portrayal of Nick. While the writers have been making it a point to depict him as weak, it’s clear that this was just a storytelling device, used to make his role as the new ‘Fixer’ even stronger. Is this the same guy that we saw rolling out of bed in the pilot? Certainly not. Nick saved his alpha’s life while also commemorating his father by killing Jimmy Koenig and it couldn’t have been scripted better. Steve Lund was from being the Pack’s zero to easily assuming the role of Pack hero. Kudos.

3. Well, the love triangle is now officially on as Elena finally did the dirty with Clay, leaving her relationship with Phillip in question. I know many readers don’t agree with my stance on the Elena/Clay romance, but I simply have never bought into it. Clay is the one who bit Elena and as such, I didn’t think she would succumb to his obvious pursuit. Elena belongs with Phillip.

4. Not sure how I feel about Amber being turned into a wolf. I think the reasoning is to finally Elena a female rival, but I would definitely prefer if Elena was the only female would survived the change.

5. Jeremy Danvers narrowly survived death again, proving that if cats have nine lives, alpha wolves have ten. Greg Bryk continues to win Bitten fans over with his strong and consistent acting every week to the point where I will now resent ANY alpha that replaces him.

6. The Pack clearly needs more members and I am interested to see what the writers come up with. For example, if all the Mutts team up to attack Stonehaven, how can four wolves fend them off (assuming Logan still chooses to change diapers).

7. Um, where was Sylvie in tonight’s episode? If Elena can cheat with Clay, can Phillip please cheat with Sylvie?

8. How great was it to see our heroes finally get a victory for once? The Danvers clan has been beat up in the last few episodes and it was nice to finally see the good guys win one.

9. How will Elena explain her gunshot wound to all of her friends in Toronto?

10. Phillip, nobody wants to see that commercial.
