One of the most anticipated films of the year is Divergent, and the March 21 theatrical release of the the first book in Veronica Roth’s trilogy certainly is expected to challenge The Hunger Games and Twilight box office numbers.

The action-adventure film is set in a world where people are divided into distinct factions based on human virtues. When Tris Prior (Shailene Woodley) cannot be classified, she is warned that she is “Divergent,” meaning that she possesses more than one personality trait (imagine that!) and cannot be placed into any one group. When she discovers that there is a plot to destroy all of the Divergents, Tris learns to trust the mysterious Four (Theo James) and together, they must find out what makes being Divergent so dangerous before it is too late.

On March 5 2014, I caught up with Shailene Woodley on the Divergent red carpet at the Canadian premiere of the film at the Scotiabank Theatre in Toronto. This is a particularly special year for the actress as she will also be starring in the Fault In Our Stars film adaptation (in addition to her feature role in Divergent). I asked her about the pressures about playing book characters that are beloved by so many. We also chatted about what the best part about making the movie was and what faction she would pick for herself. Check out the video above!

Divergent opens this Friday
