One of the most anticipated films of the year is Divergent, and the March 21 theatrical release of the first book in Veronica Roth’s trilogy certainly is expected to challenge The Hunger Games and Twilight box office numbers.
The action-adventure film is set in a world where people are divided into distinct factions based on human virtues. When Tris Prior (Shailene Woodley) cannot be classified, she is warned that she is “Divergent,” meaning that she possesses more than one personality trait (imagine that!) and cannot be placed into any one group. When she discovers that there is a plot to destroy all of the Divergents, Tris learns to trust the mysterious Four (Theo James) and together, they must find out what makes being Divergent so dangerous before it is too late.
On March 5 2014, I caught up with Theo James on the Divergent red carpet at the Canadian premiere of the film at the Scotiabank Theatre in Toronto. I asked him about the pressures of playing a character that is so well-known in the book series. I also asked him what faction he would place himself in. Check out the video above!
