Columns, Reviews, Shows, Top Story, TV Shows

We continue down the Road to Wrestlemania tonight with RAW. I expect the rest of the card to take some shape tonight. There isn’t a lot advertised for tonight, which might be a sign that tonight is a “place holder” RAW. Follow along to find out!

Triple H For Everybody

After a recap of the Occupy RAW Movement from last week, HHH started the show. He said that when this is all set and done it is the audience’s fault. He said it didn’t have to come to this, but he is going to end the YES Movement and Daniel Bryan and the crowd forced his hand. He said he’s cooled down, and he is going to beat down Daniel Bryan without remorse. He said he had some things to say to Daniel Bryan’s face later tonight.

Batista came out. He said that HHH has big problems with him. He asked who he thought he was given that Billy-goat troll his match at Wrestlemania. Batista said he came back to be WWE Champion and he earned that opportunity at the Royal Rumble. Batista said it isn’t cool that he can lose a match that he doesn’t have to be pinned in. HHH asked Batista what he was thinking and if he thought Daniel Bryan could actually beat him.

Randy Orton came out and said he agreed with Batista, even just making it a mere possibility. HHH once again said Daniel Bryan is not going to beat him. HHH asked if Daniel Bryan has really gotten that much into their heads. Batista said not as much as he’s gotten into HHH’s head. Orton asked for a No DQ match against Bryan and HHH agreed. Orton then said the people took to Daniel Bryan because no one took to Batista. Orton said no one cared when Batista left and even less people cared when he came back. Batista said the crowd took to Orton because he sucks as Champion and he only got where he was due to the support of HHH. Orton and Batista got in a shoving match. HHH tried to stop it but eventually left. Batista asked HHH where he was going and told him to fix it. HHH said he’s sick of everything. He’s sick of troll faced idiots taking over RAW, he’s sick of Hollywood stars coming back and telling him what’s best for business. And he’s sick of technically gifted wrestlers who are screwed up in the head. HHH said maybe the old man was right and you can only look out for yourself. HHH said there will be a handicap at Wrestlemania, because when he beats Daniel Bryan it will be Batista vs Randy Orton vs HHH. After HHH left, Orton delivered an RKO to Batista.

Renee Young caught up with Batista. He was leaving and said coming back to the WWE was a big mistake.

WHAT I LIKED

Bryan/HHH Closing: Anyone who calls that a burial of any kind on Bryan is just delusional. People have been clamoring for full on heel HHH and we finally got it tonight. He changed the stipulation to make it if he wins, he gets to be in the Title match. And then he does that to Bryan at the end. Bryan will get his revenge next week and then there will be one final showdown going into Mania. The segment drew a lot of heat on HHH.

The Shield Face Turn: I’ve been clamoring for weeks to have this happen, and it finally did. I thought they would do it by saving Daniel Bryan at some point. But saving Jerry Lawler is the next best way to do it. They’ll probably take on the Outlaws and Kane at Mania. Who wouldn’t love to see a Bryan/Shield vs Kane/Orton/Batista/HHH War Games match at Extreme Rules. Plus, a Shield face turn pushes the break up closer to the summer and doesn’t risk all three men getting lost in the shuffle.

Bray Wyatt/Cena Promo: I really liked Wyatt and Cena’s promo exchange this week. Bray has been hitting his stride in recent weeks with his focus on Cena and his super hero life. And hell, even Cena took Bray as a serious threat with his promo this week. Good build up with a nice video package later on in the night as well.

Orton vs Bryan/Batista Interactions: Everyone is slowly getting into their roles heading into Mania. Orton has done a good job lately playing to the crowd and going after Batista. Batista has grown into his ego driven heel role. And we all know Bryan’s role. What once seemed like a dull match has a lot of intrigue.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE

Eight Man Tag: The match was okay but was lacking a lot of heat. The crowd just couldn’t get behind it and it seemed like more of a cool down match than one that was suppose to build up a battle royal.

Sheamus vs Titus O’Neil: One of my main problems with Sheamus is that he always goes over someone who could use a win. Titus looked to have some sort of push lined up and now he is a nothing again. I’m not saying Titus should win clean, but why not have Christian interfere and cost Sheamus the win?

I thought this was another good episode of RAW this week. The build to Wrestlemania has gotten better the past few weeks. Three of the top matches have become intriguing to me. The Undertaker/Brock Lesnar match needs both men there to build it up better. Paul Heyman can only carry so much of it. I’m giving the show a 7.

Until Next Time,

Justin C
