Murtz On The Scene: Exclusive Interview With Big Brother Canada 2‘s Allison White

Interviews, Top Story

Allison White was the 15th houseguest and was voted into the Big Brother Canada 2 house after spending a week in the Secret Room. A self-professed Big Brother addict, Allison romanced First Five villain Andrew Gordon for the majority of her time on the show and made a splash when she found the Secret Power of Veto, using it to save Sabrina instead of Arlie and ultimately costing herself the game. When Neda narrowly beat her in the HOH tiebreaker, it became increasingly clear that Allison’s time in the game had run out and she was the victim of Sunday’s instant eviction. I caught up with Allison and asked her if she felt like she had disappointed the fans who had voted her in and if she regretted not using her Secret Power of Veto on Arlie.

Murtz Jaffer: One of the main reasons Canada voted you into the house as the 15th houseguest was because you admitted how much of a fan you were of the show and knew so much about it. When you look back at your game, do you feel like fans will be satisfied with their decision to send you into the house given that you were in a showmance with one of the biggest villains of the season and chose to use your secret veto on Sabrina when it would have made much more sense for your own game to use it on Arlie?

Allison White: That’s a good question. I often wondered that because they voted me in, then put the two of them up and I asked them in the diary room if they did that on purpose. I don’t think fans will be satisfied, they got me in there and then I messed up, maybe. The only thing I really regret was getting rid of Arlie. I did the best thing I thought I could for that time.

MJ: I believe that if you had used your secret veto power to save Arlie (after Jon had decided to backdoor him), it would have been one of the biggest moves in Big Brother history. Instead, using it on Sabrina really didn’t amount to anything since Arlie still went home and you were sent to the jury house this week. Would you able to give me a step-by-step breakdown of your decision to use it on Sabrina and whether that single decision is what ruined your game?

AW: So, I was sitting there with this veto in my ass and it was digging in because it was V down. I was sitting awkwardly next to Neda and Rachelle and I was waiting to see if I was going to be backdoored. Once Arlie was put up on the block I was like holy shit. Actually in that moment, I don’t remember half of it happening. Whoops.

MJ: I’d like to get your thoughts on Big Brother twists in general. This season, it seemed like every single twist hurt you (except for the initial Secret Room one that sent you into the house). The Buzzworthy power that was given to Adel, eventually resulted in you not being able to play in a veto competition. Canada’s HOH sent your biggest ally packing. The instant eviction resulted in you talking to me. Why do Big Brother twists hate Allison?

AW: Secret Room. Quite the fun little twist wasn’t it! I had to compete to get in to the house after I thought I was going in already. It started my game so I’m thankful for my twist. Plus I got to meet Scott and Nate who are really cool people.

a. I thought that the Buzzworthy twist was bad timing for me because I had just gotten in the house. I had no idea how to be buzzworthy with these people, I was trying to blend in and trying to stand out. That sucked for me that Adel won that.

b. Two of my closest allies up on the block. That sucked for me. It scared the crap out of me because it felt like Canada was like, Hey Allison, don’t play with these people. It caused me to play the game more when he left.

MJ: Neda broke her Final Four deal with you when she decided to turn on you. Is this something you would be able to get past as a member of the jury? Many fans of the show always say that they hate bitter jury members, but having lived through the experience, it’s much harder to not take things personally.

AW: Yeah, I’m not angry about that. I never trusted Neda so I’m not surprised she never trusted me. Plus, she said when she came out she had concrete proof she did not trust me. I’m not going to let that bother me, she’s a good player, she’s a very smart girl. The fact that she got me out, I’ll take that as a compliment.
