Murtz On The Scene: Exclusive Interview With The Amazing Race Canada‘s Shahla Kara & Nabeela Barday

Interviews, Top Story, Video

The day after they were eliminated from The Amazing Race Canada, I had the chance to catch up with Shahla Kara & Nabeela Barday to discuss what happened. Shahla & Nabeela were certainly my favourite team on the show as my parents were their former Sunday School teachers, so it was heartbreaking to see them leave so early. The pair failed to complete a roadblock in the flood training simulator at the Damage Control School of CFB Esquimalt in Victoria and elected to take a penalty which resulted in their early demise. I asked the pair about the challenge and why they had such difficulty with it. We discussed being eliminated so early and if it left them with a feeling of satisfaction at making the show or disappointment at being cut so quickly. We also discussed the diversity of this season of The Amazing Race Canada and if their religious beliefs would have impacted them on the show if they had made it further. I also asked them if they were able to recognize former National Ballet of Canada principal dancer Rex Harrington and Olympic Gold Medallists Natalie Spooner and Meaghan Mikkelson from the other teams, and if their celebrity status gave them any kind of an advantage on the show. Finally, we discussed why they are the only team on The Amazing Race Canada to not have Twitter accounts and they updated me on what they are doing now.
