Matt Hughes Says The Press Conference Brawl Between Jones & Cormier Is Black Eye On The Sport

News

If the UFC turned a blind-eye to the press conference between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier on Monday, you couldn’t really blame them as the incident scored national media coverage. One former fighter and current UFC official, however, was not impressed.

Matt Hughes, the current Vice President of Athletic Development (who ironically is in charge of managing fighter conduct) tweeted that the brawl in front of the media wasn’t good for the sport:

@dc_mma @JonnyBones Chances are you 2 will not read this but what you’ve done is bad for the sport. I would stop talking about it.

It is still unclear how the UFC plans on handling what happened, but fines for both fighters are expected.
