DVD Reviews: Dora’s Magical Sleepover & Dora & Boots Best Friends Forever

DVD Reviews, Reviews

An exciting event in a young child’s life is when they make their first best friend. Often this is followed by an invitation to have a sleepover. The same is true for an animated child. Nickelodeon’s Dora the Explorer celebrates these two moments with the DVD collections Dora & Boots Best Friends Forever and Dora’s Magical Sleepover. The two sets are bound to entertain preschool kids who want to figure out how these two things work. Dora & Boots Best Friends Forever captures their special relationship over the course of 8 episodes. Dora’s Magical Sleepover contains “Dora’s Museum Sleepover Adventure.” That’s much more fun than just staying at your cousin’s house. Dora hooks up with a magical cape in order to free a prince. The only other adventures on this collection are “Dora and Sparky’s Riding Adventure” and “Dora’s Super Soccer Showdown.” Here’s Josie’s review of the two DVD sets:

The video is 1.33:1 full frame on Dora & Boots Best Friends Forever. The episodes on Dora’s Magical Sleepover are 1.78:1 anamorphic. The episodes look clear enough for kids to count along. The audio is Dolby Digital stereo. The sound mix is rather simple so not to confuse the kids. The episodes are Closed Captioned.

No bonus features.

Dora’s Magical Sleepover & Dora & Boots Best Friends Forever do a fine job of making kids pay attention to the tasks needed to finish a job.
