DC Comics’ New 52 Futures End #16 Spoilers & Review: Superman Unmasked, Justice League’s Black Captain America Stormguard, But No Batman Beyond

News, Spoilers, Top Story

We continue to chug away to September 2014 and DC Comics’ September 2014 five-year line-wide leap forward (the UPDATED and complete 3D motion covers are here), the weekly series’ sixteenth issue hit stands today.

Before I get to my capsule review and spoilers for New 52 Futures End #16, let’s get you caught up on this series so far:

Spoilers and capsule review follow for The New 52 Futures End #16.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

As with previous issues, the free preview contained the action of a full subplot; this week that involves the Justice League. We finally learn who the Black Captain America looking character is: Stormguard. He’s also on the cover of the September 2014 3D motion cover of Justice League: Futures End #1 featuring the Legion of Super-Heroes’ also.

When we get to the rest of the issue, we have an interesting reveal concerning New God Mister Miracle who is planning the Earth 2 prisoner jail break from Cadmus Island. He is blind to the insidious technology and King Faraday is watching. Plus we also get a partial reveal of the Masked Superman in his battle with Rampage. That partial reveal leads into next issue including the cover to next week’s New 52 Futures End #17.

It is also truly unfortunate that the cover to this issue spoiled the reveal on the last page. It sure makes sense if we’re talking about the sentient computer threat of Brother Eye that Brainic may have something to say about that! Finally, the Stormwatch / Agents of S.H.A.D.E. has gotten interesting since their early tangle with Black Adam in Superman’s Phantom Zone!

Sadly, no Batman Beyond nor the Batman of the far future in this issue.

An entertaining issue with business picking up at the end and with the seeding of the Earth 2 jail break!

We also get a tease of next week’s The New 52 Futures End #17!

Thanks for reading. All feedback welcome.
