Nurse Jackie will feature an Emmy winner when it returns for its seventh season.
Tony Shalhoub, a three-time Emmy winner for Monk has signed to play a recurring role on Showtime’s comedy and joins fellow Emmy-winners Edie Falco and Merritt Wever on the series.
Shalhoub will play Dr. Bernard Prince, a new ER doctor who is known for his “great beside manner” and for the “special” relationship he shares with his boss Gloria Akalitus (Anna Deavere Smith). He will reportedly be a “new friend” for Jackie.
Shalhoub will help to fill the void left by the departing Peter Facinelli (who asked to leave the series prior to the start of its seventh season to “pursue new creative challenges.”
