Wladimir Klitschko Postpones Title Defense Against Kubrat Pulev Due To Torn Bicep Injury

News

Fans who were waiting to see Wladimir Klitschko defend his heavyweight title will have to wait a little longer.

K2 Promotions, Klitschko’s promotional company, announced today that the fight has been rescheduled for Nov. 15 at the O2 World arena in Hamburg, Germany.

The fight was originally scheduled to take place on Sept. 6, also at the O2 World, but Klitschko was forced to postpone the bout on Monday after suffering a torn left biceps during a sparring session Friday. Klitschko’s doctor advised him to take about four weeks off before resuming training.

“I am delighted that the title defense can still take place in Hamburg. The atmosphere here is always gigantic,” Klitschko said in a statement. “Due to the injury, I am taking a break from training now and will then start again with the preparation for the fight against Kubrat Pulev.”

All tickets for the Sept. 6 date remain valid for the rescheduled fight.
