Anthony Johnson Pushes Alexander Gustafsson To Agree To A Match; Winner Would Take On Winner Of Jones & Cormier

Dana White was the first to propose the idea that Alexander Gustafsson fight Anthony Johnson while he waits to see who is victorious between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier next year. Now Johnson himself is throwing around the same idea.

Yesterday, the light heavyweight took to Facebook to call out Gustafsson for the first time.

“@AlexTheMauler I respect you as a fighter but this is business,” Johnson wrote. “@danawhite said our fight makes sense. There’s nobody left for us to fight plus the fans are begging for us to fight so let’s give the fans what they wanna see!”

By now everyone knows that Gustafsson (16-2) lost his second shot at UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones after suffering a torn meniscus in July. Daniel Cormier is now booked to fight Jones in early 2015, due primarily because of the pre-fight hype that started after the two brawled in a pre-fight press conference.

Alexander Gustafsson has yet to respond to Johnson’s challenge.
