With Seth Meyers moving to late night and Cecily Strong deciding that she wants to leave the desk to focus on doing more sketches, the Weekend Update desk on SNL has a new team behind it.
The show’s new season will feature SNL writer and Daily Show correspondent Michael Che joining Colin Jost as the new anchors.
“This is about a new era, what feels appropriate for now,” SNL boss Lorne Michaels told the New York Times, which broke the news. “That’s why we did a lot of combinations and tests, and this is kind of where we came out.”
