Heavyweight fights usually end in finishes and, more often than not, in first round knockouts.
That was certainly the case on Saturday as former heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski soundly defeated Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva in the latter’s hometown.
Arlovski used straight punches against the Brazilian before finally sending him to the mat with a devastating right hand. After a flurry of punches where he seemingly hit Bigfoot at will, Arlovski finally knocked him out at the 2:59 mark of the first round.
“I definitely wanted to knock him out – nothing personal,” Arlovski said after the match.
