Laura Benanti has joined the cast of ABC’s Nashville.
The Tony winner will play singer Sadie Stone and according to TVLine.com will romance record exec Jeff Fordham. While it is unclear as to whether their relationship will be professional or personal in nature, it is clear that this will cause a rift between her and Rayna.
Sadie is “somebody that ends up on Rayna’s radar,” Nashville boss Dee Johnson told TVLine. “They connect as women in this business who don’t have, say, the baggage that Rayna has with Juliette… It’ll be an interesting friendship that we see evolve.”
