Murtz On The Scene: Exclusive Pre-Finale Interview With The Amazing Race Canada‘s Natalie Spooner & Meaghan Mikkelson

Yesterday, I had the chance to catch up with Olympic Gold Medalists Natalie Spooner & Meaghan Mikkelson ahead of Sunday’s The Amazing Race Canada finale. I chatted with the hockey players about where competing on The Amazing Race Canada ranks in terms of their life achievements considering their success at the Olympic Games. We also discussed how they were able to come back to win the gold medal and the differences between assuming the role of the comeback kids versus the comfort they have had on The Amazing Race Canada where they have started almost every leg in first place. I asked them about the internal pressures that they had to face in terms of whether they expected to finish in first every leg since that was the barometer that they had set with their initial success. One of the most noteworthy moments of the entire season took place last week when Natalie and Meaghan decided to share their clue with rivals Sukhi and Jinder despite the fact that their competitors tried to misdirect them the week before and this led to a frank discussion of whether they felt like they had to act like Olympians on the show and always do the right thing. We also talked about their relationship with Pierre & Michel Forget and why seemed to be the only team that got along with the brothers. I asked them if they thought that they had already psyched out the other teams that they were competing against (simply because of how well they have done up to this point). Finally, they offered a sneak preview for Sunday’s finale.
