Tonight marks the season premiere of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on CTV and the action picks up a few months after the events of the first season’s finale where we saw Nick Fury promote Coulson to acting S.H.I.E.L.D. Director in order to rebuild the spy organization from scratch (after it was destroyed at the hands of Captain America and Hydra).

In tonight’s episode, the team will attempt to track down an artefact that was originally discovered by Peggy Carter and her Howling Commandos after World War II. During the mission, the team will encounter a new adversary… a man who can transform himself into any material he touches.

In addition, the show will seek to answer many of the questions that we were left asking ourselves after the first season wrapped up.

– What happened to Fitz? After he sacrificed his own life to save his beloved Simmons, we did get confirmation last season that he was alive. The question is in what capacity?

– Will Ward redeem himself or transform into an even bigger villain? Now in the hands of the US Military, it will be interesting to see where the show takes Ward as they can’t really send him to the Fridge as he broke out of it with Garrett and HYDRA. Here’s to hoping the show’s writers allow him to embrace his evil side.

– As for Skye, it appears fans of the series will finally find out who her parents are and that this will be one of this season’s primary storylines.

Over the summer, I caught up with Marvel Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Chloe Bennet & Elizabeth Henstridge to discuss the second season of the show that premieres tonight on CTV. We discussed our mutual friend Rafe Judkins (who is a producer on the show) and I asked them to elaborate on Skimmons. They also offer a preview of the new season.
