While Gareth served as the initial villain during last night’s The Walking Dead season premiere, fans of the series are gearing up for Negan’s first appearance.
The mega-villain appears in The Walking Dead comics but has yet to make an appearance on the AMC show. In last night’s episode, some fans thought that Negan appeared and was the man responsible for initially imprisoning Gareth but in an interview with EW, showrunner Scott Gimple set the record straight.
“I’m going to say this one definitely, because I think it has an important aspect to the story. No, that’s not Negan. Negan does not have a ponytail. Unless he’s carrying someone else’s in his pocket, it’s not him, the ponytail. I will say that you do see that a character at the end of the show, earlier in the show.”
