Anderson Silva Comments On Whether Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira Should Retire Or Keep Fighting

News

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira’s future in MMA have been called into question after his last loss to Roy Nelson.

Dana White even said that he didn’t want to see “Big Nog” fight again and while Nogueira and Frank Mir have both expressed an interest in fighting one last time to complete their trilogy, it’s unclear whether that fight will happen in the UFC.

Recently, Nogueira’s longtime friend, Anderson Silva, was asked about the situation.

“(Should Nogueira retire?) That’s a good question, but not for Dana or for me (to answer),” Silva told MMAjunkie. “It’s a question only for Rodrigo. I respect the time for Rodrigo to fight or say, ‘No more fights.'”

When pressed further, Silva stood by his position and said that the fighter himself should be the only one to decide when to hang ’em up.

“I’m a fighter; Rodrigo’s a fighter,” Silva said. “When Rodrigo says to all the people, ‘Now, I’m done.’ That’s it, he’s done.”
