A couple of welterweights will meet at UFC 182 in January.

The UFC has added a match between Omari Akhmedov (1-1) and Mats Nilsson (0-1) to the star-studded event that takes place on January 3 at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena.

A welterweight bout between Omari Akhmedov (13-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) and Mats Nilsson (11-3-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) is the latest addition to January’s UFC 182 lineup.

Akhmedov, a Dagestani-born Russian, signed with the organization in 2013 and knocked out Thiago Perpetuo in his UFC debut, which earned him a “Fight of the Night” bonus. He was not as successful in his next fight as he lost by submission to Gunnar Nelson at UFC Fight Night 37.

Nilsson is a Cage Warriors vet who signed with the UFC in late 2013 but immediately suffered a TKO loss to Luke Barnatt in his UFC debut match this year at the same UFC Fight Night 37 where Akhmedov also failed.
