Chris Algieri Makes Weight In Second Attempt, Will Fight Pacquaio Tomorrow

News, Top Story

Chris Algieri suffered an embarrassing situation today just before his match with Manny Pacquiao tomorrow.

The challenger missed the 144-pound weight limit earlier this evening, but managed to make weight in his second attempted.

Less than an hour before tipping the scales Algieri gloated that he was so comfortably within the limit that he could enjoy a hearty breakfast of fruit, cereal and noodles, sending out a tweet including a photo of his meal, plus the hashtags #ChampionLifestyle and #makingweightright.

Algieri spoke too soon and was 0.4 pounds over when he initially appeared on the stage at the Venetian Macao’s Cotai Arena

He came back to the arena just 40 minutes later, and recorded a final weight of 143.6 pounds.
