Nik Lentz & Thiago Tavares To Fight Again; Rematch To Take Place 5 Years After Original Contest

News

What’s old is new again in the case of Nik Lentz and Thiago Tavares.

The two lightweights who fought to a draw at UFC Fight Night 20 in January 2010 have been booked to meet again at UFC Fight Night 60 on January 14. The news was confirmed by MMAFighting.com.

After facing Tavares in 2010, Lentz (25-6-2, 1 no-contest) went 4-2 with one no-contest before moving into the 145 pound division. The longtime UFC veteran has won four out of five as a featherweight in the UFC, and boasts wins over Tavares’ comrades Diego Nunes and Hacran Dias.

Tavares (19-5-1) stayed in the lightweight division a little longer than his rival and only dropped to 145 pounds for the first time in 2014 with a first-round submission victory over Robbie Peralta. Tavares has gone 5-2 since his initial meeting with Lentz.
