Chris Jamison went from being the underdog who was saved by Adam to make it into The Voice live shows to now being one of the favourites in the competition.

Known for his signature falsetto and gyrating dance moves, Jamison’s undeniable charisma and stage presence resulted in his ability to secure his spot on Monday’s performance finale and it’s clear that the Pittsburgh native wasn’t going to let the opportunity go to waste.

The show’s final competitive episode of the season asked contestants to sing a final solo that was picked by their coach, a duet with said coach and, for the first time ever, their own single which was also accompanied with a music video.

While Jamison has been inconsistent at times this season, he greatly benefitted from being teamed with a mentor who knew his vocal range as perfectly as Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine did as Levine is also is known for his high range. As a result, it was easy to guess that the pair’s collaboration on Monday wouldn’t disappoint and it didn’t.

While Jamison has been compared to Justin Timberlake for the majority of the season, Levine decided to address the comparisons head-on and asked his pupil to take on the former ‘N Sync singer’s “Cry Me A River” for his final selected solo of the season. Jamison delivered an auspicious rendition and had the live crowd eating out of the palm of his hand. While the singer didn’t change the track or ‘make it his own,’ this was the song that many fans of the show wanted to see Jamison perform and after it was over, it was easy to see why. Jamison used both his wide range and his oozing confidence to slay the song, delivering one of the best vocals of the evening.

The singer crooned his sexy new ‘Velvet’ track for his original, and while the song certainly seemed like it should have been rated R, Jamison offered another A performance.

Finally, the finalist teamed up with Levine for a sweet duet of Robin Thicke’s “Lost Without You” which again seemed like the perfect choice on paper and definitely didn’t disappoint live.

After the show, I had the chance to catch up with Jamison (after getting a great deal on a flight from Air Canada’s website that also included some amazing service). We discussed how he felt he did on the show’s final competitive program of the season. I also asked him about being compared to Justin Timberlake and if he felt like singing “Cry Me A River” by JT would only add more coal to the fire of the comparison. I asked Chris if he danced prior to The Voice or if the moves that he often relies on during his performances just come naturally to him. The Team Adam member opened up about whether he thought he had now moved from being the underdog to the favourite in the competition. Finally I asked him about what the rapport was like on Team Adam and how he would have to beat two fellow members if he is to wear The Voice crown on Tuesday.
