Features

Check out spoilers for this week’s Thursday Night Smackdown!

Inside Pulse launched on August 9, 2004, and has covered the world of wrestling for over a decade. Every day, we take a look back at what was happening in the world of wrestling 10 years ago, as reported right here at Inside Pulse!

The Beautiful Thing Presents: Three MOTY Awards

Happy Wednesday, everybody! I hope that not too many of you wasted your money on Sunday’s abysmal excuse for a PPV. I wasn’t going to order it, but a change of plans left me with nothing important to do on Sunday night after the Packers vs. Vikings game.

Before we get to the meat of his week’s column, here’s my list of everything that I enjoyed about New Years Revolution:

I liked Eugene’s Hulk Hogan-esque ring gear.
I enjoyed joking about it on AIM with Rob Blatt and Raven West.
The spot where Batista Spinebustered Jericho onto Benoit was pretty cool.
The crowd was awesome. They were a fired up old school crowd, popping for face spots and booing like crazy when the bad guys cheated.
I always look forward to reading what Scott Keith and J.D. Dunn have to say after a show like that.

Otherwise, holy crap was that a terrible show! I don’t think it was enough to put me off the Royal Rumble, though.

The Daily Pulse, 01.12.05

Well, I knew this would happen sometime. The last two days, my pills weren’t working very well, to say the least. No, I didn’t get violent or anything, but, on Monday, I suffered the worst depressive attack that I’ve had since I went on them. This caused me to do things like stagger on the killfloor, cough uncontrollably, not get enough oxygen to my lungs, etc. Sorta like a reverse panic attack, which indicates to me that the problem is the Lexapro not working (it’s supposed to take care of those). This wasn’t the most interesting experience I’ve had at work while on the meds. One day last week, I started yawning every thirty seconds for two straight hours. Big yawns, too, not little ones. But, yesterday, someone finally noticed that I was staggering around like Fleabag after his tenth Crown Royal and informed my boss. He watched me secretly for about a minute, then called me down to his office and told me to go home. There’s nothing like uncontrollable staggering while you have a knife in your hand as an excuse to get home early. I’m calling the shrink today after I get this done to see if I can get in damn quick. Just thought you’d want an update on that situation.

Section 1- Important results & Title matches

All Japan: Taka Michinoku beat Kaz Hayashi for the junior title on a show of Taka’s Kaientai Dojo promotion.

New Japan: As touched on last week, they ran the Tokyo Dome with widely disputed attendance. NJ claims 45,000, but Meltzer reports 25,000 with just 10,000 paid… which would be a disaster f true. Tiger Mask 4 unseated Minoru Tanaka to win the juniors title, while Liger downed Kanemoto for top contendership. Liger hasn’t had a title shot since 1/4/00 when he beat Kanemoto in a resounding squash, followed by a six month reign in which he dominated the division and won the 2000 J Cup. Tiger Mask’s reign could be a short one. Yuji Nagata beat his brother in a spar, with the crowd getting behind the little brother. Suzuki won the sleeper battle with Iizuka. Kojima blasted Nishimura with a flurry of lariats, as expected.
