WWE News: Summerslam 2015 Changing Venue Due To NJ Arena Closing

News

Where will the event wind up?

WWE Summerslam 2015 is scheduled for New Jersey may have to be moved.

The event is currently supposed to eminate from the Izod Center (formerly Meadowlands Arena) in East Rutherford. However, that is an old arena, open for over 34 years.

There are reports that the state will be closing the venue entirely as of the end of March. All events scheduled for after March are being moved, some to the Prudential Center in Newark or to the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, NY.

WWE has a house show scheduled for the arena for January 24, 2015. That could be one of the latest events to take place at the venue. It’s unlikely that Summerslam will move to Madison Square Garden, and will probably end up at the Prudential Center.

WWE issued the following official statement (via Wrestling Observer):
WWE is currently looking at alternatives and we’re confident we will come up with an equivalent to or better option.
