The 2015 WWE Royal Rumble: By The Numbers

News

More than any other gimmick match in wrestling, the Royal Rumble has been a dream for fans of stats. You’ve seen the videos that World Wrestling Entertainment updates each year with interesting factoids about the famed Royal Rumble match. Well, with the past event being called one of the worst in terms of booking, let’s see if the stats back up that claim.

Bray Wyatt is Iron Man

Bray Wyatt lasted the longest of any competitor, going almost 47 minutes.

Hey, I remember you

The 2015 Royal Rumble was The Boogeyman’s first WWE match since 2009, Bubba Ray Dudley’s first since 2005, and DDP’s first since 2002. It was also the first appearance in a Royal Rumble for both Bubba Ray and The Boogeyman.

You Don’t Say

This year’s Royal Rumble match was the longest 30-man Rumble since 2006 (Length of match: 59:35).

The 2015 Royal Rumble was the first to have three superstars eliminate 6 or more competitors (Bray Wyatt, Roman Reigns, Rusev).

Despite going out of business in 2001, every Royal Rumble since has featured a member of the original ECW.

Kane loves to Rumble

Kane passed Shawn Michaels’ elimination record at the Rumble. With five eliminations his record now sits at 43.

Kane also tied Shawn Michaels, Randy Orton, Steve Austin and Batista with the most Royal Rumble final 4 appearances, with 5.

2015 was Kane’s 18th Royal Rumble match, a WWE record. This was also Kane’s 20th consecutive Rumble pay-per-view.

Royal Shamble (aka the Rumble’s non-achievements)

Titus O’Neil had the quickest elimination at just four seconds (tying the times of Bushwhacker Luke – 1991, and Jerry Lawler – 1997).

Only four competitors lasted longer than 15 minutes, and only ten made it past ten minutes. (Comparatively, in 2009, ten competitors lasted longer than 22 minutes.)

Half of the Royal Rumble field lasted under five minutes, with seven lasting less than a minute or not entering.

Only 9 Royal Rumble competitors eliminated other competitors.
