WWE Battleground 2015 PPV News: Rumor Roundup For Possible Major Storylines [Spoilers]

WWE has their July PPV, Battleground 2015, tonight at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri. Check out our Rasslin Roundtable for full staff preview and predictions.

The card only has 5 matches plus a pre-show match, so there is still room for surprise matches or items to be added during the show.

Here is a roundup of some of the more prominent rumors for what could happen at the PPV.

There are strong indications that not only The Undertaker but also Sting will be involved in major matches at Summerslam 2015 next month. As such, it’s possible that one or both will appear on the PPV to kick off the storyline.

With Brock Lesnar’s schedule, there are reasons to avoid having him regain the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. After Paul Heyman called Kane the Undertaker’s baby brother, speculation began to build towards a rekindling of the Lesnar/Undertaker storyline. The Undertaker could return at the PPV to cost Lesnar the title.

The other half of the main event – Seth Rollins – is the reigning WWE World Heavyweight Champion, and after trying to reestasblish his support from Kane and J&J Security in storyline, he now appears to have no allies heading into the show. There are rumors that this could be seeds planted for a Shield Reunion at Battleground, in order to preserve Seth’s title. In this scenario, Brock would not regain the title and the Shield would be the lead heel group in WWE, with the Authority presumably turning face. This would back up plans for a Seth Rollins vs. HHH match at Summerslam.

Finally, the NXT Divas are reportedly being flown to the PPV. There is no women’s match of any sort currently scheduled for Battleground, so it is very likely that a multiple women match, with both or all three of the newly established trios – Bellas/Alicia, Paige/Charlotte/Becky, Tamina/Sasha Banks/Naomi.

No matter what happens tonight, there are surprises planned for both the PPV and for Monday Night Raw tomorrow that will began the “Road to Summerslam”. As WWE has planned a full weekend of events for Summerslam 2015, there is an imperative to make it newsworthy and draw fans back for the new fall season as Raw winds up to face off against Monday Night Football.

This is the card as currently announced:
