Star Wars 1313 Gets Resurrected…Sort Of

News, Rumors

Okay so the title of this post might be a tad misleading but hear me out! It’s not entirely off-base.

Star Wars 1313 got a lot of fans excited a couple years ago with it’s promise of being a gritty, Uncharted-like video game and the early footage did nothing but build that hype. Take it from me, I sat close to the front in a panel for the game at Star Wars Celebration VI in 2012, knowing next to nothing about the game beforehand and left feeling like my life depended on the release of this game.

And merely several months later, George Lucas announced the sale of Lucasfilm to Disney, soon after LucasArts closed its doors and on-going projects seemed to be scrapped, including Star Wars 1313.

And then came Nolan North’s panel at Metrocon where he was discussing writer Amy Hennig’s departure from Uncharted 4 and is now working on a mysterious Star Wars game for EA and Visceral. North claimed that he knew a lot about the game and it was going to be awesome.

North said, “If you’re a big fan of Amy Hennig and her style of story, She’s gone to EA and is going to reboot a brand new Star Wars franchise in the style of Uncharted.”

A fan asked North is that game was Star Wars 1313, he replied “it’s different but along the same lines.”

Of course, North isn’t exactly associated with the game in any way so I wouldn’t classify him as an authority to say what exactly this game will or won’t be BUT seeming as how the game was never mentioned by anyone after it was put down along with LucasArts and North claiming to have a lot of information about it, he didn’t exactly shy away from the 1313 question.

So what do you think? Should we wait on more information before we get our hopes up? Or do we officially pull the lever to turn on the hype machine now?

Here’s what I think, you know how this new Battlefront game is kind of tied to Force Awakens? I’m thinking that this new game will be along the same lines in relation to the release of the first edition of their Star Wars Anthology Series, Rogue One, expected to be released in December 2016. Whether or not it takes it’s chief inspiration from 1313 or not is irrelevant because it looks like we’re getting a story-heavy single play Star Wars game and it feels like it’s been forever since that’s happened (last one was Force Unleashed II, if I’m not mistaken).

But for real, what does it matter? New Star Wars is new Star Wars and that can only be a good thing (not counting Jar Jar, of course).
