Batman and Robin Eternal #2 shipped today as part of a 6 month weekly series that in part is celebrating the 75 anniversary of Robin / Dick Grayson’s DC Comics debut.
We build on the surprises from Batman and Robin Eternal #1 in this issue.
In the free teaser pages DC released before issue #2 hit stands, we see new villain Orphan, on behalf of “Mother”, trying to take out Bluebird / Harper Row.
Cassandra Cain tangles with Orphan!
Spoilers and review follow for Batman and Robin Eternal #2.
Dick Grayson’s gets in on the action and Orphan and Cassandra Cain flee.
He encounters Bluebird Harper Row and Spoiler with a priceless reaction!
At the end of the scene they smell something that reminds Dick Grayson of the past… the Scarecrow’s fear toxin from his first adventure.
Back in the present Dick Grayson learns Spoiler’s secret identity of Stephanie Brown; she’s not the list of kids on Mother’s list from last issue. Tim Drake / Red Robin crashes the party. He’s bugged Bluebird / Spoiler’s tech which creeps them out, but allowed him to join up with Dick Grayson and help Bluebird / Spoiler.
However, while many of the assembled are on Mother’s list, as revealed in Batman’s computerized confession last issue, Jason Todd / Red Hood is on the list. They try to warn him about Cassandra Cain.
However, he’s already got the drop on her!
Another solid issue on story and great art to match. This weekly mini-series looks like its a home run so far despite the uneven efforts in DC Comic’s most recent weekly limited series.
