News on Alberto Del Rio’s WWE Return, When Was the deal Done, Was AAA Aware Of it?

News

As you all know by now, Alberto Del Rio made his return to WWE and defeated John Cena for the United States Title.

But one unresolved issue is Del Rio’s AAA status, as Del Rio is currently the AAA Mega Champion. AAA Vice President Dorian Roldan Pena issued a statement following the PPV noting that more news on Del Rio’s AAA status is forthcoming. It is likely Del Rio will work other dates through the end of November but that hasn’t been confirmed, and AAA officials claim they didn’t know about Del Rio’s WWE return until this Sunday.

As for the WWE deal, according to F4WOnline.com Del Rio was offered a very good deal to return to WWE, and the plan all along had been for Del Rio to be Cena’s opponent at Hell in a Cell. In recent interviews, Del Rio had been claiming he had no plans to return to the company, but in reality the deal was said to have been done weeks ago. It is not clear whether it was Triple H reaching out to Del Rio first or Del Rio reaching out to Triple H, but either way people in WWE knew he was returning.

Del Rio’s new WWE schedule is said to be easier than most talents but not as easy as the schedules of Chris Jericho, Brock Lesnar or The Undertaker’s. One thing Del Rio had made very clear is that he didn’t want to return to WWE’s busy travel schedule and wanted to spend more time with his family.

I've been following wrestling for almost 30 years now, and the metal scene for even longer. And let's just say that all that head-banging has left me with some weird ideas that i will share with you from time to time. Aren't you glad?
