Zac Efron And Robert De Niro Flex Off In Dirty Grandpa Trailer

Media, Trailers

After starring in one of the least successful wide releases of 2015 with Warner Bros. We Are Your Friends, we are nearing make it or break it time for Zac Efron as a leading man. Having survived the transition from High School Musical teen heart throb to showing what it’s like to be 17 Again, Efron scored his biggest hit with 2014’s Neighbors. Universal has a sequel brewing with Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising (set to arrive May 30, 2016) that sees Efron returning with Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne and new cast mates Chloë Grace Moretz and Selena Gomez.

But until that arrives in theaters Efron will next headline the January 22 release Dirty Grandpa. Not to be confused with Paramount’s Bad Grandpa from the “Jackass” crew, though still looking rather raunchy, this new comedy puts Efron in a road trip movie alongside Robert De Niro.

Efron plays the straight-man role as the uptight about to be newlywed, who has drive his freewheeling Grandpa (De Niro) to Spring Break. Far removed from the likes of Travis Bickle and Ray La Motta, De Niro plays the party animal to Efron’s Felix Unger.

Dirty Grandpa is directed by Dan Mazer, who previously helmed I Give It a Year. Joining Efron and De Niro are Rock of Ages‘ Julianne Hough, Aubrey Plaza, and Dermot Mulroney.
