Here is a quick look at some highlights on the shelves this week. I’ve also included a list of Trade Paperbacks and Hard Cover Editions if you’re looking for some extra stories. Some big things from DC and Marvel this week, plus an award winning series comes to print! So without further ado, let’s dive in…

New This Week

Daredevil 1Daredevil #1 – I’ll admit that I’m getting this mostly because I liked the show so much. Someday I plan on going back to read Mark Waid’s recently finished run as I’ve heard it’s some of the best Daredevil stories in recent years. If you haven’t read much Daredevil like me, this should be a great place to start. Charles Soule has been doing some great work at both DC and Marvel recently (Superman/Wonder Woman, Swamp Thing, She-Hulk, and Lando respectively) so this should be pretty cool.

Harley’s Little Black Book #1 – I haven’t been the biggest fan of New52 Harley, but this still sounds like a fun idea. Harley goes around the DC Universe meeting all the big heroes, how could any DC fan pass on this?

Robin War #1 – I’m a bit behind so I have no idea what the Robin’s are going to war about now, but I do love me a good Robin fight!

East of West 22East of West #22 – I must catch up faster. Despite delays (let’s all admit, Hickman’s been a bit busy) I’m still a few issues behind on one of my favorite series. Every issue I’m reminded of why I like it so much as it keeps getting better and better. This issue is not a good jump on point for fans, so I highly recommend you pick up Vol. 1 this week!

Sensation Comics Featuring Wonder Woman #17 – The final issue! I’m bummed this series is ending, not just for the title we’re losing but for the kind of series it was. Just like Legends of The Dark Knight (2012) with Batman and Adventures of Superman (2013) with The Man of Steel, Sensation was a series of individual, stand-alone, and not-necessarily canonical stories featuring Wonder Woman. Unlike regular titles, all three series had the ability to show characteristics of our heroes not otherwise shown. Hopefully another series like this will return soon.

The Private Eye HC – I’m a huge Brian K. Vaughan fan, and despite all the rave from fans and critics I haven’t read a panel of this series yet. No real reason, just haven’t gotten around to it yet. Originally a pay-what-you-want web-exclusive series, it’s now being collected in this oversized hardcover! Now I can catch up.

The Private Eye HC

Other issues to looking forward to: Batman Beyond #7, Batman: Arkham Knight #11, Bob’s Burgers #6, Gotham Academy #12, Gotham by Midnight #11, Howard the Duck #2, James Bond #2Paper Girls #3Star Wars #13, The October Faction #11They’re Not Like Us #10, Zombies vs. Robots #10

Collected Editions

American Vampire vol 121st Century Tank Girl HC (new this week) – The original team of Martin & Hewlett return!

American Vampire Vol. 1 TPB

Batman ’66 Vol. 3 TP (new this week)

Batman ’66 Vol. 4 HC (new this week)

Batman vs. Superman TPB – This isn’t a companion to the upcoming film, but a collection of the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel’s biggest brawls! The stories inside are not the entire arcs they originate from, so there may be “spoilers” for series like The Dark Knight Returns, but they’re all stories I’d recommend reading anyway.

Rat Queens Deluxe HCDeep State Vol. 1 – If you like X-Files, I highly recommend checking out this series. Perhaps not quite as “spooky” but still in the same vain of “outcast agent with his own theories tries to solve paranormal cases”. For more X-Files-like reading, I recommend James Tynion IV’s UFOlogy.

Deep State Vol. 2 (new this week)

Feathers HC

Rat Queens Deluxe HC Vol. 1 – Easily one of the best series from Image lately (and that’s saying a lot), Rat Queens has conquered it’s way in the comics-world as a fan and critical favorite. This deluxe HC includes issues #1-10 and Braga Special #1, everything a new fan or collector needs and for just under $30!
