Freaks and Geeks gets Blu-ray treatment

Disc Announcements

Hard to believe that a TV show that starred people who would revive the Muppets and outrage North Korea wouldn’t last an entire season. Sadly that was the fate of Freaks and Geeks. The series about high school kids mattered so much to people who wanted the cool vibe of coming of age at the start of the ’80s. Freaks and Geeks has become a retro sensation in the last decade. The show lasted only 18 episodes with many of them burned off by NBC in Saturday night marathons. However thanks to home video, it’s become as cool as Firefly. The longevity of the short run is partially due to a cast that has made major impacts in pop culture over the years sort of like the students in Fast Times At Ridgemont High and Dazed and Confused. Now all the episodes have been transferred to 1080p for a Blu-ray release. Even more importantly is that you can choose the aspect ratio so you don’t hear your mom complain about “If it’s in HD, why won’t it fill the whole picture?” Here’s the details of the March 22nd release from a Shout! Factory press release:
