Here is a quick look at some highlights on the shelves this week. I’ve also included a list of Trade Paperbacks and Hard Cover Editions if you’re looking for some extra stories. The new year is here and so are a few new series, so without further ado let’s dive in…

Last week Marvel shipped several books ahead of release, including Amazing Spider-Man #6, Howard The Duck #3, Nova #3, Obi-Wan and Anakin #1, Rocket Raccoon and Groot #1, and Spider-Man 2099 #5, and Spidey #2. They should be on the shelves this week.

New This Week:

Swamp Thing 1Swamp Thing #1 – From “Swamp Thing” original co-creator Len Wein and horror master Kelley Jones, this is a can’t miss! The two creators previously paired up for the Swamp Thing Convergence tie-in, which was one of my favorites. For anyone interested in DC history, horror comics, or just looking for something new, this one is for you.

A-Force #1 – G. Willow Wilson and Jorge Molina return to continue this fan-favorite series in the wake of Secret Wars!

Action Comics #48 – New arc! After the events of the Annual and other recent issues, Superman is desperate to recover his powers while saving a fellow Justice Leaguer. Greg Pak has been building an interesting addition to the Superman mythos between his various series and this new arc looks to continue just that.

Spider Man Deadpool 1Spider-Man/Deadpool #1 – “Because you demanded it!” – Marvel. It is a bit surprising this hasn’t happened sooner, but here it is! The mind of Joe Kelly and the pen of Ed McGuinness bring you the hero-bro team-up years in the making.

The Fade Out #12 – Series conclusion! This story has taken us on a wild ride through the depths and behind the scenes of old Hollywoodland. I can’t wait to see what Brubaker & Phillips have in store for us next.

Bitch Planet #6 – New arc! The critically acclaimed and fan-favorite series begins Round 2 this week!

A few other issues to look forward to: Archie #5, Batman Beyond #8, Batman and Robin Eternal #14, Darth Vader #15, Detective Comics #48, Green Arrow #48, Paper Girls #4, Star Wars #14, The October Faction #12, The Woods #19
