John Cena was absent from Raw and barely on the Smackdown tapings. Now we know why.
Former WWE Champion John Cena will have shoulder surgery and will miss this year’s Wrestlemania according to a members-only report by PWInsider’s Mike Johnson.
The injury is reportedly a torn rotator cuff, similar to the injuries suffered by Randy Orton and Cesaro. After the surgery, Cena is purported to miss 6-9 months, meaning he will nearly definitely miss Wrestlemania 32 even if his rehab is way ahead of schedule.
Cena confirmed it on Twitter:
Rather upside down start to 2016 as tomorrow I will head to Birmingham for shoulder surgery. Life's full of set backs but #nevergiveup

Considering how many injuries WWE already has on the Road to Wrestlemania 32, this news is quite a blow to WWE creative coming out of the New Year.
