Rey Mysterio made his brief Lucha Underground debut this past Wednesday night in a promo – and already, rumors involving Rey Mysterio’s contracts with Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) and Lucha Underground have surfaced. Pro Wrestling Sheet’s sources claim that AAA owes Rey Mysterio a significant amount of payments, many of which are well behind the due date. Mysterio also feels that this is unfair on their part and violates his contract. He hasn’t been featured in any recent AAA shows, and these same sources claim that these two situations are the main reasons why.
Mysterio has also run into some unknown yet negative issues with Lucha Underground, according to Dave Meltzer on today’s episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that was posted early this morning. While Meltzer was vague about the situation regarding Mysterio and LU, some comparisons were made about the relationship between Mysterio and LU and Alberto El Patron (known as Alberto Del Rio in WWE) and LU. LU wanted Patron to be successful, though he ended up leaving for WWE, and since Mysterio has voiced on several occasions that he left WWE on good terms, there’s some speculation that perhaps something similar could happen with Mysterio.
