10 Thoughts on NXT – 24th February 2016 – Apollo Crews, Bayley, American Alpha

10 Thoughts, Reviews, Top Story

1. In an excellent sign of things to come, we’re kicking off with the most over tag team in NXT, American Alpha. They’re facing the Dubstep Douchebags, who were once tag champs but are now barely more than enhancement talent.

2. Entertaining match as usual from Jordan & Gable, and Blake & Murphy were also there. JJ certainly knows how to throw a crisp suplex, while Gable is believable both as an undersized face in peril and a master mat wrestler.

3. Regal tries to add some class to the poorly written but well wrestled Zayn vs Joe rivalry, announcing a two out of three falls match in a fortnight. Well nothing could possibly go wrong in a two out of three falls match, could it?

4. Christopher Girard is this weeks appointed victim for Apollo Crews, who still looks great in the ring but has failed thus far to set NXT on fire. Crews proceeds to throw him around as expected, although not without encountering some nice British style offense and gurning from Girard.

5. Interview with Baymella about their impending match with Nia Jax and Eva Marie. They’re both sweet.

6. The found footage approach to Dash & Dawson attaching Enzo made Lucha Underground look like a Scorsese production.

7. Next up we’ve got Tommaso Ciampa facing the recently departed Bull Dempsey, by which I mean he got fired, not died. Bull takes forever to take his shirt off, and Ciampa wants none of his nonsense.  Ciampa works the arm as Bull hits some comedy spots before tapping out to an armbar. Not a great display of Ciampa’s talents, and I wish Dempsey the best in his future endeavors.

8. Interview with Samoa Joe. He is confident about winning the two out of three falls match against Sami Zayn, despite his poor luck at getting a clean pin so far. After the break Sami says that nothing is going to stop him, and they can’t possibly both be right! Or can they…?

9. The main event of Baymella vs Eva Marie and Nia Jax was decent any time Jax was in the ring, not so much for Eva Marie. The Total Divas star earned the ‘you can’t wrestle’ chants, but still managed to walk away with the win due to the dominant presence of Nia Jax.

10. Regal sets up Finn Balor vs Neville for next week, bringing a pretty damn good episode of NXT to a close!
