At Wrestlemania 32, Shane McMahon will take on the Undertaker in a Hell in a Cell match. If Shane wins, he gets control of Monday Night Raw (and the Undertaker is seemingly banned from Wrestlemania in the future).
This was an emergency match made after many of Vince McMahon’s first choices were discarded.
After Wrestlemania 31, WWE penciled in The Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar as a main match for Wrestlemania 32.
As 2015 progressed, Vince McMahon decided to milk that feud multiple times including at Summerslam 2015, then moving up the blow off match to Hell in a Cell in late 2015.
From there, Vince McMahon had a new plan, which according to Dave Meltzer, was not Sting. This could be the original plan for Braun Strowman as well.
When that plan fell through, McMahon decided to go with the Undertaker vs. John Cena as the big money match for Wrestlemania 32. However, Cena went down with an injury and would not be able to be a part of the show.
Finally, Vince made the deal with Shane to do the match against the Undertaker.
After Brock Lesnar, John Cena, Braun Strowman, Sting and a possible mystery person, Shane finally was the opponent as picked by Vince McMahon.
