Wrestling Observer Newsletter recently reported that WWE is considering casting several Lucha Underground stars in its upcoming Global Cruiserweight Series. It’s rumored that WWE has already signed on Ricochet (otherwise known as Prince Puma on LU) to either NXT or the Cruiserweight Series, and these rumors have escalated since Ricochet recently lost his half of the IWGP Tag Team Championship and will not be taking bookings after July.

WWE apparently wants more, and wants a diverse roster for the GCS with at least five Mexican pro wrestlers, with their biggest interests within the LU roster. Season 3 of LU should be finished taping this June, which is when the GCS is scheduled to premiere – good timing for WWE. Pentagon Jr., Fenix, King Cuerno (El Hijo del Fantasma in AAA), and Dragon Azteca II/Jr. (AKA Rey Horus in the indies in Mexico).

However, WWE signing these luchadores could be postponed due to the technicalities and structure of their LU contracts, which state that LU luchadores cannot appear in other promotions such as WWE (unless otherwise stated) until the latest season has finished airing. So since Season 3 won’t finish airing on television until 2017, that means WWE cannot obtain them until then.
