Pete Towne attended the WWE Raw show in Hartford, Connecticut on Monday and sent the following report.
A very full crowd at the XL Center last night, even for the WWE Superstars taping (see the main page for the results).
Shane McMahon and Dean Ambrose got the pops of the night, with New Day and Enzo and Cass right there with them. I’m not sure if it was seen on TV, but Baron Corbin was scheduled to fight Damien Sandow before Dolph Ziggler jumped him. Sandow got a huge pop. He is definitely missed on TV and the crowd cheered him even through the Ziggler beat down of Corbin. The New Day are so over right now there were New Day chants even before the doors opened as well as Ric Flair wooos as we waited for the doors to open.
Biggest boos were easily Roman Reigns, Chris Jericho, and Stephanie McMahon. Even a noticeable Uso-suck chant was going during the Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson match, as the Usos drew a negative reaction as well.
The crowd fell flat during the AJ Styles match but reacted well at the finish. Roman Reigns match was definitely the most crowd reaction match of the night even against heel Del Rio. The Bullet Club got a good reaction too.
After the show went dark, Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho attacked Roman. Dean Ambrose made the save with Dirty Deeds on Jericho, and Roman speared KO.
Overall, a good go home Raw with a good crowd, but three hours plus is tough to fill. Hartford is not normally a hostile crowd but they were very anti Roman Reigns. He has crossed hard into John Cena territory without the John Cena charisma to bring the crowd back. Roman is a good guy. He was with the Make A Wish kids before the show, but he got a 70-30 negative reaction at best. A Bullet Club reunion would be an awesome Payback show to begin the Shane McMahon era, as it seemed nobody in Hartford was interested in more of the tired Authority running Raw again.
