A few covers for this $5 comic book.
The book opens with a summary of where we’ve been. The Cosmic Cube that can shape reality has manifested in a child named Kobic that SHIELD manipulated to create a new reality called Pleasant Hill. It wasn’t really a suburban paradise, but a prison for super-villains who didn’t realized they had been changed by Kobic until they did and then facilitating an…. Assault on Pleasant Hill!
Baron Zemo, who was the original Citizen V of the original Thunderbolts, is back leading the Assualt on Pleasant Hill charge. He wants the power of Kobic and the Cosmic Cube and has his villanious do so in an unexpected way…

The Avengers, all the various teams, unite to take orders from a Kobic healed and de-aged Steve Rogers!

Kobic escapes from the clutches from the villains and rages against villains and heroes!
She is really ANGRY!
Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson, during the battle, have a discussion and agree to share the Captain America mantle; after all Marvel has two Spider-Men they note.
The end of the issue sets up many things in time for Civil War II.
Like Steve Rogers new ongoing series called Captain America: Steve Rogers. His new shield debuts here as Sam Wilson gets to keep the classic round one.
Quasar’s future is teased.
The new Thunderbolts series with Winter Solider, Kobic, and a classic looking roster is teased. Thunderbolts #1 debuts on May 4, 2016!
SHIELD head Maria Hill is dismissed and a trial is set up.
At the same time, a major villain reemerges!
Hail Hydra! Here comes the Red Skull. What role will he play in Civil War II? Stay tuned.
And, Marvel wants out to take away the following from Avengers Standoff: Assault on Pleasant Hill Omega #1.
I don’t know if this Avengers Standoff event was really needed to advance anything. I only read Welcome to Pleasant Hill #1, Assault on Pleasant Hill Alpha #1 and Captain America: Sam Wilson #8 (spoilers here), after my local comic shoppe heavily discounted the over-priced opening two issues and this Omega issue. I don’t read anything else and found it accessible and anti-climatic.
That said I’ll be picking up Thunderbolts #1 next week. I hope its good so I can start reading a second ongoing Marvel series along with Squadron Supreme.
6 out of 10 rating.
