10 Thoughts, Reviews, Top Story

1. We kick off with William Regal announcing that Bayley is out injured, so we’re going to have a triple threat match for the number one contendership for the Women’s title.

2. Our first match of the night is Gargano and Ciampa vs TM61, otherwise known as Australians Shane Thorn and Nick Miller. Thorn and Miller both have some nice moves, and apparently they’ve been working together in Japan for a while. If we’re lucky Pat Metalhead will give us some more details. Gargano and Ciampa pick up the win after a hard fought match. I’m looking forward to seeing all of these guys in the cruiserweight open.

3. Interview with Bayley, interrupted by Nia Jax claiming to have ‘broken’ her last week. Carmella and Alexa Bliss come out to join the party, and there is no way that anyone other than Jax is going over tonight.

4. Austin Aries is out next, but he’s not dressed to wrestle. He talks about being great and talks about going for the NXT championship, but Shinsuke Nakamura comes out to rain on his parade. Nakamura is dressed head to toe in red leather and looks awesome.

5. Regal comes out and announces Aries vs Nakamura at Takeover, which has the potential to be the match of the night in an already packed card.

6. Next up Jordan and Gable are fired up and move a message for The Revival: bring it on. Both Jordan & Gable are pretty strong on the mic, and they have almost unlimited potential if they can avoid injury.

7. No! Way! Jose! is facing Jonathon Ortigan, who looks like he has a lot of late nights. I can’t believe the commentators are putting Jose over for bringing back the aeroplane spin – Colt Cabana has been using the move for years. Jose gets the win with the baseball punch followed by a spinning cravat slam. He dances, the crowd love it. I remain unconvinced.

8. Asuka interview. She doesn’t care who wins the number one contender match, she will beat them. Seems like a fair call.

9. Our main event is the triple threat for the number one contendership between Carmella, Alexa Bliss and Nia Jax. Bliss spends much of her time hiding on the outside while Jax throws Carmella around in the ring. Back from the break and Bliss is inexplicably in control, almost pinning Jax after the sparkle splash. After a decent if slightly uneven match, Jax picks up the win by pinning Carmella with the leg drop. After the match Asuka his the ring and holds the belt in Nia’s face.

10. Bit of a filler episode of NXT this week, with a decent main event and some exciting (if slightly predictable) announcements for Takeover.
