It was back on the eve of WrestleMania 32 where I posted a piece where I made the suggested push of a new brand extension to freshen up the product and where the combination of the WWE Network and flagship shows Raw and SmackDown! being on the USA Network would help in promoting new stars, new storylines.
In the old pay-per-view environment, the split was unsuccessful with the rotating of shows getting their individual PPVs every other month. But with the advent of the WWE Network, the switch means two PPVs a month except for months containing the “Big 4” (Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam and Survivor Series). Brand-specific PPVs to start after SummerSlam.
What is interesting is WWE is bringing back some old pay-per-view names and re-branding Night of Champions to be an event that fans of NWA and WCW are likely to remember.
