With Goldberg being announced as a pre-order character in WWE 2K17, and a Suplex City sign being visible in the trailer, many wondered if that meant a Brock vs. Goldberg match would be part of the game. While that question is still unknown beyond being able to do it in exhibition, the sign did make more sense with today’s announcement that Brock Lesnar will be the game’s cover athlete.

With Brock being a huge part of UFC 200’s marketing and the event as a whole, him being the cover athlete makes a lot of sense. He’ll be a more marketable name after his UFC fight and if they go for a career-encompassing mode for Brock, it could be a lot of fun – especially if they decide to put in a New Japan match in there since he faced Nakamura there as IWGP Champion and Nakamura is under a WWE contract now. They could also do Brock vs. Goldberg at WM XX, or do that and then do a modern-day dream match with the more MMA-influenced Brock going against Goldberg in his prime. WWE 2K17 will be released on October 11 on the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4.
