According to Deadline, Warner Bros has bolstered the cast for Ocean’s Eight by adding Anne Hatahway, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling and Awkawinfa (pseudonym for Asian-American rapper/actress Nora Lum). They join the already announced stars Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett.
There’s more casting to be done for the pic, which will be helmed by Gary Ross (of the most recent Free State of Jones starring Matthew McConaughey, the first The Hunger Games release and Seabiscuit). Doing the math only seven women have been cast for what is to be a female-driven spinoff of the lucrative Ocean trilogy.
Could we possibly see some of Danny Ocean’s (George Clooney) troop of con men pop up in the film? Don’t put it past Gary Ross and Ocean’s Eleven director Steven Soderbergh, who is serving in a producing capacity.
Filming is set to begin this October.
