DVD Reviews: Miraculous: Spots On & Littlest Pet Shop: Making Friends

DVD Reviews, Reviews, Top Story

Ever see the look in a kid’s eye when they discover their next most favorite TV show in the world? It’s a crazed look that lets you know that you better not get between their eyes and the television. As the adult, you just know that whatever you had planned to watch has been postponed until further notice. Such is what happened when my daughter discovered Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir. The French animated series about two high schoolers with secret cool identities and powers has conquered America in record time. Now with the release of Miraculous: The Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir – Spots On!, she’s taken over the DVD player too. This second volume contains the episodes The Evillustrator,” “Rogercop,” “Dark Cupid,” “Horrifactor,” “Darkblade” and “The Mime.” As her review will illustrate, she was shocked by “Dark Cupid” for many reasons.

She still enjoys Littlest Pet Shop. She enjoys the charms of animal looking for owners who don’t want to leave their friendly pet shop owner. Included in the latest collection Making Friends is “Sleeper,” “Room Enough,” “Why Can’t We Be Friends?” and “It’s the Pest Fest!”

Here’s Josie’s reviews of both collections:

The video is 1.78:1 anamorphic for both shows. The transfers are fine for the animated series. The audio is Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound for both shows. Miraculous can be heard in its original French. Both shows are Closed Captioned.

Episode Animatics (6:41) shows how they work out a few scenes before adding the finishing touches. A good way for kids to appreciate what it takes to bring Ladybug and Cat Noir to life.
