Spoilers and review for DC Comics Rebirth’s Titans #2 follow.
Abra Kadabra, a magician from the future and perennial Flash villain, claimed last issue to be the one who stole the memories and 10 years time from the Titans and the broader DC Universe despite DC Universe Rebirth #1 pretty clearly revealing that the culprit was really Dr. Manhattan of Watchmen infamy.
However, that cliffhanger was compelling and lead into this issue where Abra Kadabra has created dopplegangers of the then Teen Titans to battle the older modern day Titans.
It allows the creative team to create a pretty cool double splash page(s) with the modern day Titans ready to pounce.
Omen tracks down Linda Park in the thick of battle…
…yet a confused Kadabra says that Linda Park and Wally West don’t meet until well into the future providing more questions about Kadabra and what he’s doing in the here and now.
Tempest sees an opening and strikes Kadabra while he is confused, but…
…even Nightwing knows that even a confused Kadabra is dangerous with his M-metal wand. Nightwing warns Tempest, but…
…it’s too late as it seems that Kadabra has provided a fatal blow to Tempest to end Titans #2! However, with Wally West entering the fray, what does that mean for Tempest and Kadabra?
So…
I’m a big fan of these Titans, the fact that they represent legacy and grew up with me to be honest, plus I am a huge mark for penciler Brett Booth. I’ve enjoyed his stuff since his Wildstorm days. Plus Dan Abnett has been a go-to of mine for sci-fi space comics, but he seems to get these Titans and is telling a pretty compelling yarn. This is a really fun book to read.
